A new chapter is opening for Spanish head coach David Ginesta Montes, who completed the 2025-2026 season in the Turkish Women's Handball Super League with MC Sistem Yurdum Spor. Romanian club Minaur Baia Mare announced through its official channels that it had reached an agreement with the experienced coach.
However, this move does not sever Ginesta's ties with Turkey. Contacted directly by HentbolKolik via social media, Ginesta explicitly confirmed that his role with the Turkey Women's National Team will continue without interruption. The coach will keep juggling club and national team responsibilities simultaneously.
Ginesta's footprint in Turkey began with the 2025-2026 season. While coaching MC Sistem Yurdum Spor in the Women's Super League, he was also actively carrying out his national team duties, a role he had taken on since January 2025. This dual arrangement will remain unchanged following his move to Romania.
On the national team front, Ginesta's record stands out: under his guidance, Turkey earned qualification for the World Championship and claimed gold at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games. Beyond the senior national team, the Spanish coach also oversees the U19 women's national team and is spearheading preparations for the EHF EURO 2026, which Turkey will host in December 2026.
In his club career, Ginesta served as assistant coach at Rapid Bucharest in Romania between 2021 and 2023, contributing to the Romanian league title (2021/2022) and a EHF Champions League quarter-final run (2022/2023). Taking charge of Rapid in 2023, Ginesta guided the club to a silver medal in the Liga Florilor. Holder of an EHF Master Coach license, he also works as a coach educator within the Turkish Handball Federation (THF) and the EHF.
